You're really "up the creek" if you live upstream from this marina.

A marina in Old Saybrook has decided that it's OK for them to build a massive dock complex without a current permit from the DEP - and, moreover, that it's OK for them to build these docks across the mouth of a creek that other people use to get their boats onto the river.

The DEP issued a "Notice of Violation" on July 17th; no word yet on whether there's going to be any real enforcement from them (for a change).

The Hartford Courant has covered this issue, and we've just received an outstanding summary from John Kennedy. John explains the whole sordid story in great detail, so read on and prepare to be outraged at what people think they can get away with. Given the DEP's track record, there's good reason for them to think they can.
