The Connecticut River in Old Saybrook is more than just the Yacht Club!

As impressive as the yacht anchorage in North Cove may be, there's an awful lot of other Connecticut River and Long Island Sound shoreline in Old Saybrook.

However, according to resident Dick Goduti, the town's Harbor Commission doesn't pay as much attention to this fact as they should. (Nor, needless to say, does the Connecticut DEP - but why should we expect them to do their job in Old Saybrook when they don't seem to want to do it anywhere else, either?)

For example, a recent newpaper article reported that someone managed to build a dock with a boat lift in North Cove without bothering to get any permits, and neither the DEP nor the town government even noticed it until a neighbor complained to the zoning commission! Seems like a lack of attention to detail by more than one government agency.

Our thanks to Mr Goduti for publicizing these important facts, which we have not covered adequately. We'll try to do better in the future.
Don't let anyone take your river away from you.
