"De l’audace, encore de l’audace,
et toujours de l’audace."
Are
you coming to the Connecticut River Eagle Festival 2003?
Here's a prime spot to see eagles during
the Eagle Festival, according to the brochure from the Connecticut
Audubon Society. If you don't do something to help, there will
be a 98-foot dock (with a boat lift) in the middle of this view
next year.
Would
you rather see eagles in trees, or on docks?
Time
is running out. The Chester Harbor Commission has already approved
the dock application. The only way to
stop this dock now is to force the DEP to do its job, and protect
the environment of this part of the Connecticut River. Click on the
button at the left to send your opinion to public officials. Let them
know that you don't want the scenic beauty of your
river valley destroyed.
Update:
Jay McKay of the CRCPT has filed an outstanding
brief with the DEP's Commissioner, Arthur Rocque. This brief does
a thorough job of explaining to Mr Roque why his hearing officer's
approval of the Schaller dock application was a disgraceful abrogation
of her duty to the citizens of Connecticut. Click
here to read or download the brief.
Maybe enough public presssure
will make the DEP remember that the last word in their name is also
supposed to define their mission: protecting the environment.
